Omega 3, the fatty acids found in cold water fishes like salmon have lots benefits, including alleviating depression, preventing age-related blindness and a host of other benefits. But did you know that omega-3 has anti-aging effects as well?
Aging is caused by telomeres, the structures at the end of chromosomes. They mark biological aging. Genetic factors such as exposure to certain chemicals, environmental stresses are believed to contribute to the aging process. Now research published in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) shows that omega 3 also slows down the shortening of telomeres.
Past studies have shown that people with established cardiovascular disease who have high dietary intake of marine omega 3 fatty acids live longer who have the same health problems but do not have adequate omega 3 in their diet. As for anti-aging effects, a group of scientists studied if omega 3 fatty acids were linked to changes in leukocyte telomere length. The scientist studies the patients for about 5 years. There was an association between baseline levels of two types of omega 3 fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid, in the patients’ bodies and there was a subsequent change in telomere length.

Acne (acne vulgaris) is a common skin disease that can either be inflammatory or non-inflammatory. It is ordinarily referred to as pimples, blemishes, spots, zits or acne. Acne usually begins on puberty due to the rise of male sex hormones, present in both genders during this period, which could continue towards adulthood.
For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to decrease and possibly disappear. Although there is no way of knowing how long it will take to disappear entirely since there are a lot of cases going beyond adulthood. The face and the neck are most likely to get most of the acne and in some cases on the chest and the back. Thus, during this period gives rise to the prominence of low self-esteem.
Acne often leaves scars that could take on different shapes. Acnescars.com has identified four types of acne scars mainly ice pick, boxcar, rolling and hypertophic. The ice pick scars are the most common acne scars. They tend to pit in the skin as if forming a “v” dent on the skin. They are deep and a classic sign of acne scarring. In rolling scars, it is characterized by wavelike appearance. This would be due to its wide and shallow depth.

Benefits of Botox is the commercial name for the purified, diluted form of botulinum toxin, which is produced by bacteria. Rivals to Botox are Azzalure (formerly known as Dysport) and ChiTox, which also contain botulinum toxin. It is injected into muscles underneath the skin to paralyse them, creating the effect of reduced wrinkles caused by excessive, repeated movement of these muscles. It is also used to stop excessive sweating in areas including the hand, foot and armpits and also to slim the face and make it look more contoured, Botox can be injected into the muscles along the jaw. In South Korea, Botox is used in the calves to make them look slimmer.
Many aesthetic doctors now dilute Botox to different concentrations so they can treat muscles of different sizes and also “freeze” these muscles to different degrees. A more concentrated solution would be used for precise application to the eyes of the patient while a diluted solution would be used along the jawline where the muscle is larger.
Recently, there has been a new procedure called the Micro-Botox which uses micro amounts of very diluted Botox. These are injected all over the face to reduce pore size and fine lines and improve the overall skin tone.

Teenagers getting plastic surgery have became a common phenomenon lately. No longer is plastic surgery the affair of wealthy older women, it has actually become a dominion for teenagers with wealthy families and adolescent hang-ups.
The increase in the number of teenagers going for plastic surgery has increased. Dr. Darrick Antell, a top New York City plastic surgeon, admonishes against calling teen plastic surgery a vogue. “One of the main reasons for the growth is visibility: today’s teenagers are growing up with parents who have received cosmetic surgery, so they see and hear about it more. The media has also done a good job of making people aware of the procedures available. Another reason is acceptability. In a way, plastic surgery has come out of the closet,” Dr. Antell narrates.
Frequently, teenagers who desire plastic surgery know that this is more than just skin deep. Teenagers desire to change the way they look through plastic surgery to address issues of self-confidence. Plastic surgery doctors are very much aware of the drama affecting the lives of these teenagers and know that these play an vital part in their choice to go with plastic surgery. Thus, most doctors often assess the physical, emotional and psychological maturity of a person before going through with the plastic surgery procedure.
For a layperson or even professionals, the words “plastic surgery” and “cosmetic surgery” are use interchangeably. These words however refer to two different categories of surgery that are currently available in the medical world.
Plastic surgery refers to the repair or replacement of physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, crainomaxillofacial structure, hand extremities, breast and trunk and external genitalia. Oftentimes a person seeks reconstructive surgery due to a malformation that they would like to have corrected. The most common reconstructive procedures are tumor removal, laceration repair, scar repair and hand surgery.
Take for example the case for a breast issue. A breast augmentation, which is done to reconstruct the shape of the breast for aesthetics beauty is put under the category of cosmetic surgery. A breast cancer on the other hand which requires the surgery of the breast due to health complications is placed under the category of plastic surgery.
